Why do most of the asians so obsessed about getting into western universities?

They would go for universities from UK, US, Aus....rather than going to asian universities such as NUS HKU. Do asian universities perform that poorly when compared to universities such as Warwick, Manchester, Melbourne etc.? I asked around my friends and they said they prefer UK rather than HK or Sg by saying that the standards of asians universities aren't good enough. A few of my friends who got scholarships offers from HKU neglected this choice and went to study in UK. One of them got a full scholarship from hku and decided not to go but to Uni of Melbourne. Every time when I ask them about this issue they would give me a feeling that they are biased about asian universities.

What do you think?

Why WOULD you want to study in an Asian country?

In asia, such as NUS, and others they have a good transportation system, with the MTR in HK and MRT in SG, also they have bidets in their toilets, that makes it cleaner when you wash your bowels. On the other hand, the english language there suck, no offense, but many of my friends from SG are now stuck with their singlish here, and having a difficult time adapting. Asian universities, have better facilities, but they lack in flexibility such as in the United States,if you choose one major and you don’t like it, it’ll be difficult to change. In the end, it is a matter of opinion if you want to have a nice facility, lifestyle and education, go to asian universities. If you want a good flexible education system, go to us universities. There are some that go to western universities, for the pride and luxury also
