Why do only a small percentage...

of Hamilton graduates attend graduate school? Only 22% of last year's graduating class immediately attended grad school upon graduation.

Could you please tell me where you have found this figure as I would be really interested in finding out further stats!

Do you know what the national or ivy league average is? (I have no clue) It would be worth to compare this figure with that…But there can be many reasons why students don’t go (immediately) to grad school. Maybe they don’t get in…but it’s also possible that they just want to work before grad school; and getting a good job as a Hamilton grad is less challenging than you’d think because of the exceptional alumni network: many Hamilton seniors get great job offers from Hamilton alumni and these students probably lose the incentive to apply to grad school since they already hold a nice job offer. They might choose to attend grad school later though when their promotion is dependent on a degree from grad school…

Most of my senior friends are planning to work right away but 90% of them says that they would apply to grad school later. If you look at their prospective employers you understand why they made this decision.
