<p>I was a third child… and I have to say, it’s not that I disagree with how Northstarmom handled things in the least and it does seem like it all worked out. BUT… I got really tired of being punished for the mistakes of my older siblings.</p>
<p>At my son’s boarding school the seniors were actually encouraged to leave campus for the last part of second semester and find an internship or some sort of independent study project. This prevented the arrogant, bratty seniors from negatively impacting the school community too much. They were held accountable for reports and perhaps an oral presentation on their internship, so they didn’t get to just go off somewhere and play.</p>
<p>I’m seeing some definite senioritis in my college senior right now, but just a few more months…</p>
