<p>Amen! My school is doing that as well and they aren’t sure how to use it correctly. It’s a mess</p>
<p>My son’s school did that. I think it made it easier for the school and student to track which faculty members had submitted their letters.</p>
<p>It is easier for teachers because it coordinates recs not only for common app schools but also schools that have their own separate app process. </p>
<p>It gives schools a few more data points to track by identifying which teachers each student selects to recommend him/her for each school. </p>
<p>As deadlines approach it also helps schools keep track of which recommendations are not yet submitted.</p>
