Why do you like Drexel?

Hello, I’m currently a high school senior interested in applying to Drexel 2016. I have a couple questions, targeted mainly at students interested in Medicine or something along those lines. 1) Why did you choose Drexel? 2) What is the campus life like currently? 3) What do you enjoy the most about Drexel? 4) What science courses have you taken thus far? 5) Would you say that the courses prepare you well for the MCAT? 6) What is the Drexel community like? Friendly? Diverse?
Sorry if I have to many questions but just just want to have an insight into what Drexel has to offer.

Current student, just finished my freshman year actually.

  1. Why did I choose Drexel? Primarily for the major I was interested in (Music Industry), it's super specific, but so is the program. It's a huge school in an active city. Philadelphia is definitely growing and you see that everywhere. I love going to a school where you don't see the same faces all the time.
  2. Campus life is what you make it. If you like to go out, you'll have stuff to do or you'll have fun finding stuff to do. I had a crazy freshman year, I was always out and about with my friends (when school work permitted it) and we could always run around campus if we had nothing else to do, there's some restaurants around, you can grub hub and get almost anything delivered to you. Lots of characters in this school since it's so big. You got the kids who smoke weed and chill, the kids who party ALL THE TIME (ie. drunk on a tuesday kid), the kids who sit dormant in their dorms (not a ton of people), the scholarly kids, the rich kids, poor kids, kids from average backgrounds. You'll get a mix here and you'll find a lot of people are in between a lot of categories.
  3. I have found my best friends this year for sure, we're a totally opposite bunch of people, and I love that I go to a school where that stuff can happen. I love living in a city the most though, always something to do if you're up for it. Not super difficult to get around either.
    1. Science courses so far: None. My major doesn't require me to take any crazy science classes, but I know science at Drexel is no joke. My best friend is a bio-med major and she busts her ass to get good grades, some classes will have low grade averages for sciences, but the good thing is the class might get scaled or your exams will if it's really that bad. There are resources though, it's hard for the average kid to go seek them out however.
  4. MCAT: Speaking to my bestie, she told me that her major's courses can be so extremely difficult sometimes because they definitely prepare you for the MCAT, she has friends that go to other great schools, but she told me she definitely has gained more knowledge then they have this year (Drexel is accelerated keep in mind)
  5. Community: Freshman year you'll probably be surrounded by kids who are trying to show off, or just go crazy since they don't live with mom or dad anymore. It'll be interesting, I promise you that. Weekends = drunk kids running around, it fun to watch, or even join in (if you do that be safe -- don't do stupid things), weekdays = everyone busting their asses. The community is still interesting, very diverse.
  6. *Tip: you're going to a big school in a competitive major if you're in medicine, you need all the knowledge you can get. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS. You need to ask questions in order to be successful in college, I know that all too well.
