I'm just wondering... Is it because you love it, for the exercise, for college scholarships, etc??? Please share I really would like to know. I personally do track and field but definitely do not want to do it in college. I plan on being an engineering major in college and I don't think I could handle the schedule if I did college track. I love track and all and still do it in high school but I would want to completely focus on my academics in college and maybe a few clubs or something.

I play because I love it. Right now I play softball, and during either freshman/sophomore year of high school, I’ll probably try out for tennis or basketball (I used to play them). Exercise is a plus, and if I get scholarships, that’s even better! But I mostly play for the enjoyment.

I play basketball because I enjoy the sport, and love my team+coach (I go to a small Christian school). Unfortunately I’m only average at best at it because I haven’t put in a ton of practice in the offseasons and didn’t play much before high school. Not planning on playing much after my senior year (this year), except at random times for fun : ). Being in shape is a plus as well- it has also made school a lot easier, through being degrees more difficult than any assignment. When I know I’m going to be pushed for two+ hours every day after school, it’s hard not to convince yourself everything else is easier. That contrast won’t be useful for academic purposes anymore due to positive changes, but it had it’s purpose in the past.

It’s fun, and it’s a good way to get all the super competitiveness out of my system.

I don’t/can’t.

For golf and tennis it’s because I enjoy them. Both are very relaxing for me and a way for me to wind down.

For wrestling and track (jump/pole vault) it’s not so much I enjoy it (I mean seriously, who likes being thrown around on a dirty mat by a sweaty guy for 6 straight minutes while training and starving yourself until you throw up the day befpre?) but I just love the adrenaline rush you get. There is honestly no better feeling in the world than winning a really tough wrestling match, or clearing the bar on a height I expected to fail. With individual sports like these, there’s no one else to fall back on if you mess up. So when you go up to the medal podium, it’s all you - your hard work all culminated in that single victory, no one else’s hard work did.

I play golf because I love it and it makes me unique. It also happens to be my anger vent and I build a better mentality. I get a ton of exercise, and it shows my competitive spirit.

I play Sports simply because I love them. I honestly LOVE going to practice. I love wearing the uniform, I love passing and spiking the ball. I play volleyball very competitively. I made Varsity as a freshman and Junior olympics too. Now this year I have my first game tomorrow! And I am a starting outside hitter. I love the game. I cannot even express what it feels like to get an ace or to get that perfect serve receive. Then there is the social aspect. I love spending time with my girls and building this bond between us. I was the new girl last year as a freshman, I didn’t know anyone. I made the volleyball team over the summer and met so many new people that I felt at home. And I love being active and fit! I cannot sit still or I go crazy, and volleyball is very fast paced!

I also cycle and run track and feel the same way about those sports. I am hoping to start field hockey in the winter :)
