My mom and I were discussing my university applications when she asked me why I wanted to go to university. I've never really thought about it before; going to university just seemed like the natural thing to do after HS. In the spirit of adventurous inquiry, post about why you want to go to university and if you'd still go if you could attain any job without a university education.

You’re right that it wanting to go to college should feel natural.

For me, I think its because college, especially a good college, would give me the opportunity to not only qualify for a well paying job after graduation, but challenge me intellectually in an environment that promotes curiosity and knowledge discovery. While “intellectually challenging” may not seem very pragmatic, I think the ability to know how and practice critical thinking are really important to one’s life outcomes. Maybe this is why some of the world’s best paying leaders - be it business, tech, or social, are often graduates of degrees like history of physics. Its not that knowing a lot about Newtonian mechanics or the War of 1812 helped them make business decisions, but more that know how to think critically to work out problems, and are able to apply that to real life.

So yeah… lol basically college is awesome and I can’t wait to go to college! And you should go to college too!
