<p>I feel like all the laborers who were displaced from the steel industry and such in the 20th century due to automation went into fast food. </p>
<p>is that a good explanation for them or not. I have to explain to my cousin why fast food started. this sounded like a plausible nativity story.</p>
<p>you can rate on a 1-10 scale how that sounds. picture yourself being a small child being told that. when i was young, and my mom told me about mcdonalds in the early 60's i had the idea that it symbolized the growing prosperity of america, or something. i don't want to give my cousin that idea.</p>
