Calcruzer-how may people on your Columbia list are actually living today? Whatever you think about the Georgetown people the other guy mentioined they are actually alive and relative to the world you live in today Georgetown has more reach with Heads of State, at the White House, the Supreme Court, the US senate, the National Security and military arenas than just about any university, save Harvard. If you have to go back to Alexander Hamilton, Lou Gehrig and John Jay to make a point, maybe the point you are making is not all that strong. The original poster said the world today. You haven't got an argument against that. Also, Eisenhower got his degree at West Point, and Koufax took all of two evening architecture courses, there.

Seminary of Tiflis (Joseph Stalin) must be one of the best places to study in Eastern Europe.

I'll give pizza eater his due--I noticed the same thing while compiling the list--that many of these people are from a ways back--and that we really don't know the contributions that will be made by Georgetown University people today.

Personally, I do believe that Georgetown is creating a large number of leaders--and should be properly ranked as one of the top universities in this regard. My only complaint was with ranking it as "THE" top one doing so.

Probably the argument here holds--that only in time will we know which school is doing the best job--and, of course, one never knows exactly how much of the credit belongs to the school--and how much belongs to the individual. I doubt, for example, that Benjamin Franklin was great because he went to the University of Pennsylvania--I think the University of Pennsylvania became great because Franklin founded it and devoted his efforts to it--not the other way around.

If I were given a choice of which school I would go to--if I had to do my college experience all over again--Georgetown would be in my top 3. Like I said, I actually came to this site because I admire the work Georgetown does.

My intent was to get more info on Georgetown so that I could recommend its various top-notch schools to college students in my area of the country who were interested in business, medical, law, foreign service, and other subjects that Georgetown is famous for. In fact, one of my best friends graduated from Georgetown's medical school and currently works as a top-flight surgeon in Westchester, New York. I apologize for ruffling some feathers here--and I'll stop posting controversial items--or stuff that makes it appear that I have less respect for Georgetown than is actually the case.

Please accept my apology.

Calcruzer, you just redeemed yourself. Congratulations. :D

Maybe because its a Catholic Jesuit University? Just a thought. Like Notre dame and BC its not for everyone.
And its strict core curriculum turns a lot of people off.
