Why does no one ever talk about UCSB?

Are you guys serious. Does it matter which school is higher in the rankings between D, I, and SB. They all are great schools, but only one is right next to the beach. SB offers a great education with a social life none of those three uc's can offer. I know far more people who would rather go to sb in spite of the fact it might be ranked 4 or 5 spots lower nationally. 5 spots means nothing nationally. Also I thought most people on this site realized how much BS some of those rankings. Especially the top ten, at this point it is about fit. Your going to tell me number 10 is really that much worst then Harvard. So why is it any different between SB, I, and D. Lets all go party on halloween at sb!!!

If you are into social life, I agree, go to UCSB. Many students are more concerned about academics or other factors than social life.

It does seem like too many people only consider academics when choosing a school. Academics should obviously be a primary reason, but your social life and location are very significant too. It is as if people who only focus on academics are concentrating on the future and forgetting about the now. Personally I think people need to find a balance, especially when you consider that you are not that much better off at Davis compared to SB. Then again there are those who perfer the atmosphere at Davis more.

Seems like you and your approach are suited well for UCSB.

Will see where I end up, but deffinetly wouldn't mind it there, I am actually going to visit people there this weekend.

i say go wherever you want to go. THe difference in academics is neglible. this is ucd not ucb or ucla.

yeah, a school ranked for example, as 40, really makes no difference with a school ranked as 44. the people who decide on rankings ARE NOT GOD! people depend on rankings the same way they depend on doctors:they expect them to always be right, and know best. Which isn't the case in either scenario = )
