it seems like no one tries to transfer there... or even talks about transferring out of it...

You would have seen more posts about it earlier in the year. Now everyones kinda winding down.

But UCSB is a good school, good college atmosphere, top half of the UC's (depending on how you rank it), and very nice looking campus.

I was going to go there but I got a surprise acceptance from UCLA so I had to change my mind:)

way to not read the forum...people ONLY talk about the UC's

University of California - Slutty Blondes

SB is not one of the top UCs, frankly. LA, B, SD and D are above it. That puts it in the middle or bottom half of UCs.

any evidence that Davis > SB or is that your opinion?

The rankings (on US News this year there was an error that caused Davis to drop spots--you can look it up) and in our case, transfer admission. The avg. gpa of transfer admits to Davis is 3.4, tying it with UCSD. UCSB is a 3.2 or below.

Again depending on how you rank it.

UCSB, UCI, and UCD are very close in academic quality. Almost for the difference to be negligible.

I am telling you matt30, you are wrong. Almost every ranking you can find will put Davis above Santa Barbara. You are wrong in putting Davis with SB and I; you simply haven't looked at the facts.

Santa Barbara isn't even on this list: just LA, B, SD and D. You will see that D is frequently categorized with those three and not the lower tier UCs.

LAWL can't believe you actually beleive Davis is that great.. its an okay school but it really does = SB and I.

the UC's are separated in tiers
tier 1
LA CAL
tier 2
SD
tier 3
I, SB, Davis
tier 4
the rest.

and that ranking you just posted put UCLA above harvard... yeah.. right.

Wrong, Hobo. No one is providing any actual info to show that Davis is in the lower tier with SB and I! Go find info that would support that; otherwise, the info I have presented shows that Davis is just a little under UCSD, well above SB and I.

Looking at the GPA of freshman admits UCSB ranks 4th (while Davis is below Irvine). It depends on which set of facts you look at.

Princeton Review ranks Davis as 96 selectivity and Santa Barbara 94; those numbers include all factors for freshmen admission.

And the gpa difference you are referring to is 3.73, 3.76, hardly a difference.

so your basically saying Davis is in its own tier, higher than I and SB and lower than SD?

and that list is pretty bs, c'mon LA is a good school but not better than harvard.

and Davis, SB and I are so close in rankings that they interchange spots year after year.

1) UCB
2) UCLA
3) UCSD
4) UCD
5) UCSB
6) UCI
7) UCSC
8) UCR
UC Merced~~

from what i understand and according to USNews....

it goes

Cal
UCLA
UCSD
UCI
UCSB
UCD
UCSC
UCR
and then Merced.

gabe's list is pretty accurate, except for irvine being 7th. davis and santa barbara are debatable but i'm pretty sure overall, irvine belongs higher than both.

I would have to agree with california, but put UCSB and Irvine as nearly the same in rank...which I guess she did :)
