Why don't some take ACTs?

Okay, so my parents want me to apply to BS/MD's all of a sudden (uh, don't kill me, but I don't see any point in these programs except that you may not have to take MCATs, or do well on them....but you still eventually have to take board exams eventually....so why not go through the painstaking test?), and I took ACTs, but I noticed a lot want SAT scores......is there a reason why?

Few programs will accept only the SAT, so you should be fine with just ACT. You need to have a good reason for applying to these programs & not because your parents told you to! Some interviewers will ask you why you are not going the traditional route. BTW in most programs you actually do have to take the MCAT.

Most programs are located on the east coast, where SAT is predominant, but will gladly accept ACT scores also.

I do not know of a single college that requires the SAT if you have the ACT with writing. I guess people can not read the college web sites that clearly state this. If someone finds a college that does not take the ACT with Writing, please post a link to the website.

I know TCNJ and Drew University don’t (I want to stay near NJ, so I’m looking at schools near here)

OP: Both those schools accept the ACT.

Drew will take SAT or ACT.See this link.

TCNJ will also take SAT or ACT. See this link.

Look at the question “What are minimum admissions requirements?”

northern,
Combined program might have different reguirement than college in general. For example, Northwestern HPME reguires Chem. SAT II. However, most programs in Midwest will take ACT with writing instead of SAT + SAT II’s.

Well, I guess these guys relly do not take the ACT.
