Why haven't I received a decision yet?

I applied to Pitt on October 10th or 11th (before the fee waiver deadline for Ready, Set, Pitt) and I got a letter basically saying that I can include on my app the senior classes I was taking, change the school I wanted to apply to, or make additional changes to my app, and it had to be in before 10 business days; I sent it in within 4 days.

I also included a letter in my initial sending saying that I was taking the SAT on November 5; could the delay possibly be because they are waiting for my scores? I honestly believe that I am below Pitts standards and that I would receive a decision without them knowing my SAT score.

Does this delay mean that there's hope?

I would guess that they are waiting for your Nov score to make a decision…

yes, I believe PITT requires a standardized test score before they make a decision…dont worry, they probably haven’t looked at your app yet if you didnt sent in a sat.
good luck!

I was in a similar scenario. I applied in September, and I was starting to get worried by late October, so I called them and they said that were waiting for my October SAT score. I told them I wasn’t going to send it because I didn’t do as well as prior tests, and they said that they would start reviewing it and that I would receive a decision in 7-10 business days. I just got accepted today, and it ended up being 4 business days.

I forgot to mention that I sent my september act scores in already, so they have everything they need: my transcripts, my scores, and my supplemental info…I believe that my scores and gpa are below the 50percent range, but my supplemental info is over the top…will they still wait for my SAT despite already having my transcripts and act?

908kiddo - Do you remember what DATE Pitt’s Web Portal said your application was “complete”?

Our D sent her application, SAT scores ordered from CollegeBoard & essay in online on 10/27 (Thursday night). Her GC sent her transcript & letter of rec. in on 10/28 (Friday). On 10/31 (Monday) Pitt sent an email with credentials to access the Pitt Web Portal at [Log In](http://my.pitt.edu) Finally on 11/1 Pitt’s Web Portal reported the status as “This application is Complete” and showing the original application date of 10/27. The status hasn’t changed since then & we are also waiting for the snail mail notification. Hope this helps. YJ76

YellowJacket76-It said that my application was complete on October 11th. Then they sent me the letter about 5 days letter saying that I could make any changes I needed to the application; I sent that in within 4 days. Hopefully there aren’t any mistakes on the app.

So, currently they have my app, scores, transcripts, rank, supplemental info, everything they need to make a decision lol…Im just wondering what’s taking so long. Is it because they want my SAT scores? Which ultimately would mean that I still have a chance despite my gpa and act score? I would assume that they would outright deny me if I didn’t meet any of their standards. What do you guys think?

908kiddo - Our D never got a letter (unless they sent her a private email) saying she could make changes … unless you are referring to the Email which acknowledged receipt of the application & provided the Web Portal credentials. My suggestion is to call the admissions office & ask them or your admissions officer. Good Luck !!! YJ76

You may want to read my “Update Your Application?” thread below. My friend’s daughter did update her application and changed from the Business School to Arts and Science but she is not interested in retaking her SAT - she scored just over 600 on Math and just over 700 on the Verbal. This past weekend she received a deferral letter. It is certainly not an outright denial so there is still hope but they are now looking at some other options.
