Why is Berkeley FinAid award letter so difficult to understand?

I get that only the top, bright students apply and get accepted by Cal, but that doesn't mean Cal has to present the Financial Aid award letters in code. Am I the only one who's confused by this? UCLA and UCSD had columns, tables, rows, color-coded headings, and the math all done for you. UCB is like CALIFORNIA.39ek.CAL.PELL.Grant.p02 = $201.29e^2(log7x)+b^2. Either way, holla at Class of 2013.

does everyone get: BERKELEY UG SCHOLARSHIP (undergraduate scholarship with type as “Information”?)… probably…

Also, what is the “Personal” costs listed under the Cost of Attendance represent?

I’m a current first-year student at Cal and I did not get the Berkeley UG Scholarship. :P

i got a 11,000 from the UG berkeley scholarship. I have a question though: My student and parent contributions says $0 but when I add up all of my package it’s short of 1300 dollars. my parents only make 20000/yr so how can that not be included in a loan or anything?? what do you guys think? did they make a mistake?

shalalal not everyone gets the scholarship. my friend got all loans D:

is the scholarship from need or something?

So, when I look at my fin aid award its divided up into fall term and spring term. My fin need is around 21K, and it says my award is 11K for each term. I was accepted for spring semester though, so I only get the money under spring term right? Is the overall cost cheaper since I’m starting later? Sorry if that’s a stupid question, but it’s hard to understand exactly how much they’re offering. . .

Hahahha, I agree, it’s so hard to understand…

its part need part merit i found a link somewhere else googling. mine is pretty lame, its like 1750 a semester, prob because my efc isnt all that low
