Hi I'm trying to add an AEM course, but every professor I talk to says that the only way to get in is through online add/drop....

Do you know if there is any way to actually getting the courses, or am I just getting my hopes up?

Also, I'm looking to work in finance and was hoping to supplement my econ course work with some finance courses in AEM. Is this necessary? Or can I still get a job in finance with an econ degree?

I have looked at the courses on JTF and it seems a lot of them have minimal space, which means it'll be a struggle getting them.

A lot of the upper level AEM courses have AEM 3240 (Finance) as a prerequisite (or equivalents). Would a finance course in the Hotel School HADM 2225 (Finance) be considered an "equivalent" ?

Also is there any course work you would recommend that would prepare for finance better than just the Econ curriculum?

History or anthropology so you will have something interesting to talk to your employer about. The guy works in an office all day surrounded by numbers and boring drones. Do you really think he wants to ask you about your finance courses?

Forget about AEM and take your business-related courses in the Hotel School. There are versions of several popular courses (including finance) that are specifically intended for non-hotel students and have no hospitality content whatsoever. Check the catalog.

My daughter, who is in CAS, had no difficulty getting into the hotel school's finance-for-non-hotel-students course last semester, as a first semester sophomore. It was quite a good course, too, taught by a good professor (Wellman).
