Why is it that ...

Please for those people with: 2400 SAT's, and 36 ACT's, with 4.0/4.0 GPA's, 5's on all the AP Tests ever created, Presidents(of all the clubs in your school) /Captains(of all the teams in your school)/ Newspaper editors, a list of extracurriculars that is 500 pages long and recommendations from the President, Noble prize winners, NASA, etc ... Please DO NOT post a: Do you think I'll get in thread. If you have such standings and you think you will not get in then chances are you won't (sarcastic), maybe try Oxford or Harvard. I say this not to be mean (which I'm sure I will be perceived as) but out of exasperation. PLEASE, lets the chances threads contain those who actually have concerns !

h a !

even though the majority of people agree with you, some are just so conceited they just can't help it. as annoying as it may be, people still feel they need to fill a void through arrogance. that's why i've pretty much learned not to open up chances threads.

I have a 2360 SAT, 4.0 GPA, 5s on all AP tests, officer of two clubs, some nice ECs, and "best student in my career" teacher recs and I still got deferred EA from the schools I applied to, nor have I recieved likely letters from the schools that send them out.

My point isn't to brag, it's to say that as competitive as colleges are today, no one is safe. The person with the "great" paper stats deserves to talk about his or her chances just as much as any of the rest of you do.

if no one is safe, then why ask? you know the answer to your question already.

for top schools, it's always going to be a toss-up so chance threads are really pointless.

chance thread don't help much, but it is a great way to evaluate yourself by reading other's stats
