There seems to be much more discussion and resources on this board for the sat. But more people take the act each year. Why is that?

Is it due to the regional distribution of the tests and the people who visit this site(Midwest vs the coasts)?
The perceived superiority of the sat?(yes I think the are equal but not everyone does)
Or is the sat eaiser to study for? (which I don't think is the case)

These are just a few ideas I had. What do you think?

There is a lot of ACT information in the sub-forum. I am only taking the ACT, so I honestly have not visited the SAT sub-forum. What do they post about? I have gotten a lot of good pointers and study suggestions from the ACT sub-forum though. Quantity does not always equal quality.

I was pondering this very question because someone at our school keeps e-mailing the group saying that ACT outnumbers SAT nationwide… Just looking at the number of activity in CC’s SAT & ACT forums betrays that assertion… Anyone know which test is given the most?

I don’t know which one is taken the most these days, or ever, over all, but up until about 10 years or even less, those going to school on the east coast tended to take SATs. Though colleges would have ACT info as well, the SAT was considered the main test to take. Now it seems like kids take both and use the scores on the test that is better for them.

This year the ACT passed the SAT on number of students taking it. [More students take ACT than SAT for first time - KMSP-TV](<a href=“FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul”>FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul) I think as long as the PSAT is used for National Merit you will see a great deal of SAT info on the boards.
