Why is Villanova not in world rankings

Why is Villanova not in world rankings?

Maybe it’s not of that calibre.

probably because it was recently established as a national versus a regional university.

Undegrad just doesnt matter that much for almost all degree paths.

I never thought of Villanova as an upper-tier school. As urban environments become more attractive (it’s suburban), schools like Villanova are getting a huge boost. In Philly, Drexel, Temple, Villanova and St. Joe’s all seem a LOT more competitive than they used to be because of advantageous locations. This is new, though.

Well they did pull off one of the greatest basketball upsets of all time. Holy Rollie Massamino!!!

I’m not sure what list you are looking at, but on the Wall Street Journal list, Villanova was #124 this year.

And on the Niche list, Villanova Nursing is #4 in the country.

The Forbes list puts Villanova at #70.

Thank goodness. Another thread where people can take cheap shots at Villanova. World rankings recognize heavy research output. Villanova isn’t on that level yet. May never be with an emphasis on undergrads. But St. Joe’s acceptance rate is 77 percent. Temple offered generous OOS scholarships until very recently and Drexel is a coop school. Very attractive to some. Villanova continues to get more applications every year. With the addition of ED, the acceptance rate was quite low for 2018 and likely will be again this year.

The world rankings are weighted heavily on research. Villanova is simply not a major research university. It only has a handful of doctoral programs. If you look at those rankings you will see that Ivy League Dartmouth does not rank very high either for the same reason.
