I personally thought we would be higher, but the ranking is certainly a huge step for the university. I think we still have a ways to go in terms of PhD programs and endowment but this new ranking category certainly gives us more exposure.

Hey, #50 is awesome! This puts Nova among the very best schools in the nation. No longer is Nova a regional school…playing with the big boys now! Congrats!

With Villanova’s class profile improving this year next year’s ranking will improve and Villanova may end up around 44th.

^ I’m not so sure about that. It seems that the vast majority of the schools above VU are also seeing a jump in
applications and therefore more high stat students also. I don’t think that you could successfully argue that VU is academically superior to any of the schools just above it in the rankings.

The recent US News rankings were based on CDS data from 2015-2016 (application data from 2014-2015). The data they us

Villanova’s CDS for 2016-2017 came out last month and is significantly better (based on last year’s application data).

So I think there is a good chance it will move up somewhat next year.

And it should go up even more in September, 2018 as the CDS for 2017-2018 (this years application class) will improve even more as students will be applying and enrolling after two key facts: Villanova winning the National Championship and VSB getting the number 1 business school ranking.

@villanovarising do you know what Villanova’s acceptance rate for 2016 was? It seems to be novas best kept secret…

43-44 percent

You can look it up at Villanova CDS 2016-2017

But this year’s acceptance rate should go down to 30s because first year people applying since:

  1. they won National Championship
  2. Bloomberg ranked them number 1 for business
