Why MIT?

<p>I really would like to know why everone who is in here has chosen MIT as their #1 Safety/Match/Reach school!</p>

<p>It may be pointless to bump a thread when there are so few...</p>

<p>but I'm really wondering why people choose MIT</p>

<p>It seems like everyone WANTS to go there, but none really give a reason why!</p>

<li>Amazing academics!</li>
<li>The student life and culture, clearly not for some, but to many its wonderful</li>
<li>Boston/Cambridge area, great opportunities for research (UROP TOO!)</li>
<li>Close to home. I'm sure many people factored that in.</li>

<p>In my case, the distance from home was also a factor. I'm in Arizona. ;)</p>

<p>I should have said distance from home. I live in kansas and if MIT was across the street I might feel differently... ;)</p>
