I don’t believe high school seniors need to send their first semester of senior year transcripts.
The thread says the nmsf is already in college. This is confusing. Is the student a NMSF and a high school senior? You then said you don’t believe hs seniors need to send their first semester of senior year transcripts. To who? To NMC they do not but to colleges, they do.
Perhaps the OP meant that he/she is actually in college (for senior year i.e. PSEO or dual enrollment) but NMSC has asked for those grades for some reason. Perhaps they need further verification of the candidate’s academic strength?
According to NMSC, they require evidence of high achievement in high school AND in any college courses completed. My guess is that they require transcripts to confirm that high achievement. Not sure why they’d require them for fall of this year, as you are right, they don’t require them from high schools. Maybe just to confirm you really are attending college (not dropped out)??
(This circumstance can occur easily when a student graduates a year early.)
A number of NMSF students have taken college courses prior to senior year. We submitted 3 college transcripts along with his high school transcript. College courses going back to summer before 9th grade. We were never asked to submit college course transcript for senior year courses.
My daughter went to USC on an early college admission program, and I had the same question. I called the NMC and they said they just want to make sure the student hasn’t slacked off after leaving school. It does seem unfair to present transcripts…grades in college are not as inflated as those in school.
I submitted my son’s transcript two weeks ago. So far no news yet.
College courses are tough. The grades aren’t the same as high school.
?
So your son graduated early and is now in college? Did you call NMCorp to tell them that?
Did you send your son’s high school transcript earlier?
The OP announced on the main NM thread a couple days ago that her son made finalist.
We had to send the college transcript right after the new year.
Yes, he made the cut. He is in college with 18 credits this semester.
