Why No Contact from USMA?

My son received nominations for USMA, USNA, & USAFA. He has alternate status at USCGA.

All the academies other than USMA made personal contact with him thru alumni, BGO, etc. Why would the other academies reach out but not USMA? According to the USMA's applicant website, his application is complete.

We were in a similar situation when my daughter went through the process two years ago. She went through the application, nomination, LOA, appointment stages without ever seeing a USMA rep or alumni. Sometimes its because the candidate is "flagged" as a potential recruited athlete (not our D's case though) and the contacts with candidates who are flagged as such are restricted in number. In our D's case it was a matter of her location and the fact that the field force representative in our area was deployed to Iraq. We were told later that this is a common problem as the Army is dealing with an unusual number and length of deployments and this is creating issues with the field force. Have your son call his admissions rep and ask his status.
Good Luck.

Commissioner-

Our sons experience has been the exact opposite from yours. USMA has gone out of their way to be in touch with our boy. Not only his MALO, but his admission counselour. Phone calls, overnight visit, e-mails, etc.... <and he="" is="" not="" a="" recruited="" athlete.=""> Even the local Parents Club has reached out. We are very impressed. Perhaps ringing up the admissions counselour at WP would offer more info.</and>

Wishing you peace in this process.

Please keep in mind that the MALO's are volunteers. They could be deployed or be very busy with their jobs and families. I agree that having your son contact the Admissions Office is a good idea.

Are you from Texas?

We had that experience here in the Dallas area last year. USNA called, visited, invited him to numerous events. USMA (Spider's original first choice) did not. The MALO was/is an older gent who didn't seem too interested in doing those kinds of things.

Spider got prep offers from both but ended up going USNA, in part because the BGO, the alumni, and the local parent's club really sold the program. They hosted a "blue chip" dinner where he got to meet Roger Staubach (cool!), invited him to meet the Blue Angels and watch them fly, etc.
