Why Northwestern?

Hey everyone,

I'm starting to look at colleges and I'm thinking that I really like the Chicago area, so Northwestern and University of Chicago are high on my list. I was wondering what made you choose Northwestern, and what you really like about the school? Thanks!

I reccommend you do some research on the website first, and tell us what sorts of things you like. We’re not writing your essay for you.

Northwestern isn’t even in chicago… lol. if you really like the area, then go to u of chicago or the art schools in the heart of the city- super nice. But northwestern is like 30 minutes away, which is a hassle if you really like the city.

The above is misleading. While NU isn’t in the city, it’s certainly plenty close enough.

courts: FYI, though within the city limits, U Chicago is south enough and off the El lines so it’s no closer than Northwestern to areas where most students hang out (Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Old Town, etc). The El and Metra stop a few blocks from the Evanston campus and NU also runs free bus shuttles down to the Med/Law school campus downtown in the heart of the Gold Coast all day. Very convenient, very cheap.

And I’ve learned early on that the Purple Line Express is a gift to NU affiliates from ‘up above’.
