Ok, both my (waitlistifying) letters said that "it was the most competitive year" they've ever had. Do you think this is because

a) More people are applying to boarding school
b) People who apply to boarding school apply to more schools
c) Something else

also, do you think that there will be more kids who decide not to go to Boarding School overall b/c they couldn't receive the amount of financial aid they needed due to the economy?

do you think that a lot of kids will get pulled from waitlists this year?

Not really, because the boarding schools themselves accepted more people who will pay in full, and less people who applied for financial aid. Also, I think every year is the most competitive since the number of applicants are on a consistent rise year after year.

thats not true. people are more interested in boarding schools. more intelligent people are applying or more people who stand out of the pack. it doesn't have to do with money. the need blind schools mean it.

It is. A lot of people bashed Exeter for making a release entailing that they are no longer Need Blind... Andover, on the other hand, is just as "non need blind" and continues to boast that status.

Really? And you know they are not need blind how?

I doubt that a school of Andover's caliber would lie about something like that. Just like their high percentage of students of color, Andover does truly go need blind.

I understand that they give a lot of need, and maybe even full need met. Look at the statistics... A lot more FA apps than last year. Lot less acceptances, and a lot more wl.

Btw I like Andover just as much as Exeter, just that I don't think that they are NB.
