Why the change in admission decisions?

UCONN's my top choice. I've got good grades ( 17/245), sat 630r/700m. When I applied back in october, I thought I'd hear by now. My guidance counselor told me that UCONN told her they won't send out decisions until Jan. Arghhhh! I'm out of state. I have a friend whom I was going to drive with over the end of winter break and hang out for the weekend. I'm not going to do that unless I get in.

Does anyone know why they're aggregating applications? Is it going to make it harder to get accepted? How about for OOS? Someone must know something. My gc basically told me to chill!

Over the past years, they have accepted too many people who applied early action compared to the kids who applied regular. Now they will send their decisions after January and probably only respond in December to the kids who are extremely qualified or extremely not.

Just our luck huh?

They always say no decisions till January. I’ll place a small wager that you will hear by Christmas.

We will start to send Early Action decisions mid-December. Don’t forget to use our new self-service for updates on your application! Posted on Uconn admission board on facebook

for the update. I will keep checking.

decisions are posted!

@LJP1493

I just checked my Student Center thing and I don’t have a decision…

anyone else have one?

D just checked…nothing on hers!

no decisions until end of dec. early jan. up until middle of feb.
uconn is my first choice too and i jsut called the admissions office

LJP1493…are you sure? Did you get in?

Yup mine is definitely posted. When I clicked on check application status I got a message that said “An official decision has been made on your application. Would you like to view your admissions decision now?”

So I clicked yes and got a message that said “Congratulations! On behalf of the University of Connecticut, it is our pleasure to invite you to join the incoming freshman class. Based on your outstanding record of achievement, you have also been admitted to UConn’s prestigious Honors Program. Please see the detailed information above regarding your admission offer. You will be receiving an official letter by postal mail in the near future. We look forward to welcoming you to the UConn community.”

I was accepted into LAS for physiology and neurobiology and my application was completed on November 4th.

Also forgot to mention that I am out of state from Maryland

Congrats LJP! You’re lucky. My D’s application was completed October 13th and she still doesn’t have an answer. :/

DD checked just now…nothing yet, and I’m guesing she has a very, very good shot at being offered a spot in the Honors College. She would also be LAS, so I guess they are not releasing by school. She’s getting very antsy. It’s not her #1 choice, but she just wants to know she got IN. I’m sure she will, but still… it would be nice to see it in print.

I forgot to mention that the UCONN site had a disclaimer on it saying it was running very slowly. We didn’t have any problems, though.

Congrats LPJ! D just checked and nothing new on hers either…getting anxious! We are in NH.

mine has changed from “we have received all your materials. your decision will be posted here when available” to “your applications is complete. please wait up to 4 weeks for a decision”
(note, these are not exact wordings, i already logged out of my account)

mumurthigal the same thing happened to mine about an hour ago

I just found out I got in to the honors program!

Congratulations to all admitted (and another congrats to those admitted to the honors program)!

My status hasn’t changed in a while (it say my app was completed Nov 9 and that my decision will be posted when available).
