Hello everyone, I am obviously applying to Tulane and I am wondering if my “Why Tulane” essay topic is any good. It is only around 250 words, but it is about Tulane being resilient during Hurricane Katrina and the student body and staff dedicated to rebuilding the university inspiring me. Essentially having that much love for their school is something I want and believe Tulane can give me. Initially I thought it was good, but now thinking about it I am not so sure. I already have it written, but if deemed necessary I will rewrite it. Thank you!
That sounds like an awesome essay. Obviously it was written specifically for your application to Tulane. Short and well written is always best. Good luck to you!
I would add something about what YOU would do to be part of Tulane community, how you would contribute to the community.
With “Why X School” essays, it is good to show what you could do for the school, after all they are building a community.
I agree with @oldfort , sounds like a good premise but you need to make the essay about YOU! How does this relate to you? What can you see yourself being involved in based on your observations? Tulane is still very active in the NOLA community in so many ways- where do you see yourself being involved?

Former President of Tulane Scott Cowen wrote a really interesting book about Katrina and how Tulane almost closed, then how they were integral in the recovery of New Orleans. See if you can get a copy at your local library.

It’s funny you send that because that’s the website I used to help me write my essay. I mentioned Scott Cowen but I have not read any book on it. I will have to check it out.
Do some research on what they have done since Katrina for students whose education had been interrupted by hurricanes. You will love it!
They are pretty tired of hearing about Katrina. I’d broaden the essay.
Hello everyone, I have written the essay and submitted it, thank you for the advice. I tailored it to there requirement of service and my interest in that as well as some classes they have that tie into it. I hope it’s good enough, because Tulane just looks incredible and I would love to go there. Thanks again.
