<p>Kryptonsa, I myself was favoring the interpretation of <em>better student</em>, but silverturtleās data are interesting. And frankly, I think itās very clear silverturtle isnāt claiming a casual relationship so much as suggesting the data donāt make the <em>better student</em> argument obviously true in any way, and it seems to be a guess. In fact, the data show strong correlation that is yet to be explained.</p>

I have to admit Iām somewhat at a loss.</p>
<p>I mean, as stated earlier in the thread, MIT also has higher admit rates for students with higher SAT scores. Chris has told you (and the other MIT admissions officers have stated countless times on the blogs, and sometimes here) that there is no difference in the way an applicant is evaluated with, e.g., a 750 vs. a 790. If you believe that the MIT admissions officers are telling the truth (which I do), then you must accept that there are other factors influencing the higher admit rates of students with higher SAT scores at MIT.</p>
