i got waitlisted too but i visited right b4 the deadline for apps and i emailed the guy for my region a couple times about visiting and receiving all my stuff. although im not totally surprised i got waitlisted its better than a rejection letter and already 4 ppl from my high school were accepted early decision and i know of 2 others that applied regular who both got in. i wonder if that makes a difference im not looking to lehigh as my first choice and i already got into my first choice school which is Rochester so its not devastating for me. good luck though to everyone else who got waitlisted.

and weird but a lot of ppl who got waitlisted had pretty strong stats and ec's so it sort of is surprising

I got waitlisted and I think I know why. My stats are:

3.7 uw
2140/2400
ranked 9 out of 420

I received two emails from Lehigh: one talked about my essay and how much the admissions person liked it. The 2nd email was from the Assistant Dean of the Business school. She said my record was impressive and she "encouraged" me to send her more information about how one of my ECs related to business. Since I knew I wasn't going to go to Lehigh anyway, I never responded to either email. I Clearly, they took this as lack of interest (even though I had visited the campus and had an interview).

It's all good though since I got accepted at Cornell :-)

I never visited or even had an interview. I did make it up though by emailing loads of questions to a professor, although I'm not sure if it helped at all. I did end up getting accepted.

For those of you thinking about the waitlist - the common data set on Lehigh's website reports that they took 2 students from the waitlist last year.

i just got word from admissions today, and i was pulled off the waitlist. im suprised because only kids in the top 1-2% of my class got in at all. I believe they are taking between 2-10 people off and they waitlisted a total of 1000 i believe. Good luck everyone!

Wow! Off already, and it's not even May 1st yet. Not to get your hopes up, but that looks good for the waitlist since that means lots of rejection cards must have come in already.

I emailed my admissions officer about a week ago to find out when we should hear from the waitlist. He said last week in april to 1st- 2nd week in may. He said that was how many they expected to accept, but that might have been just from the ED waiting list. I am pretty sure I am going to go, my other choices are penn state and rutgers.

I have a question about Demonstrated Interest. I decided to apply last minute because a friend that goes to Lehigh raved about it. I'm a match for the school but I haven't visited because I live on the West Coast. I don't really have a lot of demonstrated interest because it was a last minute decision. Do you think they will hold this against me?

no. i showed zero interest and i live like 3 hours away. i didn't do anything but apply. i ended up not attending since i didn't visit and i had no idea what the school was like

my experience is that they DO care that you demonstrate interest, so tell them that your friend raved (be specific about what), also say you are looking forward to visiting sometime this spring (i assume you would visit if you got in?). being from the west coast can help with their geographic diversity, but they want to know how serious you are about lehigh.

If I explained my predicament in the space on the common app (I was going to visit but I won a scholarship award and had to stay here), will that be good enough? Or should I email the admissions person too?
