Several posters have said that admissions last year were tough and this year was tougher. My observations support that conclusion.

But is there a factual basis for supposing next year will be tougher still? OR just because it "looks like a trend"?

Because the number of students who will be seniors next year is higher than this year. Projected growth of this age group should continue through the next four years at least.

The number of graduting HS seniors is supposed to peak in ~2009, depending on which demographer you beleive. Of course, that varies by states, since some states have already experienced a decline in school-aged kids, while others (Cal, Tx) will see increases for years to come.

I believe I read an article a while back that had HS class of 2007 being the high point. In any scenario, though class of '05 to '10 should all be highly competitive.
