Why X Essay too long?

I wrote a "Why X" essay and it turned out to be 420 words long. The application doesn't have a word limit, but I realize that a lot of these essays are typically no more than 200 words.

Do you think this length is too long? If it makes it any better, I didn't just ramble about generalizations. However, make sure to take a look at it on the application submission preview. The Common App is known for cutting off some essays, so if it does this time, you’ll have to go back and edit.

I just looked at the “tips” shown in the right, and the directions said to keep it under 650, so I’m good
