Why Yale

<p>I seriously want to go to Yale, but my grades are only average (91.5 average, 2120 on SAT) and not exactly the high standards of Yale.</p>

<p>I tried my best to convey the reasons I want to go to Yale in the why Yale section of their supplement, but I feel that there wasn't nearly enough room.</p>

<p>I was thinking about writing a letter explaining why I'm so set on getting into Yale and sending it to the admissions office.</p>

<p>There's a pretty good chance that it might not even be read, but if by some miracle they do read it do you guys think this would hurt my application in any way?</p>

<p>They only allowed I think 500 characters & I said that the Yale community overall has influenced me to apply.</p>

<p>i.e. their traditions, the spirit each individual college has, and how they try to make you feel at home.</p>

<p>Yeah I think it’s 500. I think if you send the additional letter, it needs to be like the best thing EVER, otherwise don’t bother. I mean, shouldn’t your most substantial reason be on the common app. Not to say that this wasn’t your most substantial reason…</p>

<p>Ok thanks that was my most substantial reason, but I found that when I tried to further explain myself there was absolutely no room to do so</p>
