Why You Should Attend Nova!

I’m a senior at Villanova and I just want to give you all a quick 2 cents on why you should attend Villanova, especially after our CHAMPIONSHIP!

I came to Villanova for the academics. It is an excellent school with small classes, so you really get to become best friends with your professors (invitations for dinner parties and BBQ’s. You won’t get that if you attend a state school!). There are plenty of research and internship opportunities and we have one of the best study abroad programs on the east coast. The majority of students study abroad at least once, and if they don’t study abroad, they at least travel to some exotic or interesting place through one of Villanova’s spring break trip program or research programs.

Although I came for the academics, I really learned how attending a college is so much more than the academics and to keep this as short as possible, I want to talk about my experience with Nova’s Final Four matchup (Final Four washeld in Houston). It was an incredible experience to meet so many alumni and villanova students all in a single place. Alumni reached out and were literally handing money to students to lessen the burdens on traveling to Houston. In my case, an alum in Houston opened his home for me and my friends to stay. If you wore a Villanova shirt, you’d get a high five or could easily strike up a conversation. It was truly a magical experience to see how strong our alumni network was and how proud everyone was about Villanova. And winning that championship? As close as everyone at Villanova is, we became so much closer with that win.

I feel like I’m rambling, but the fact of the matter is that it has been a magical weekend at Nova Nation. As a graduating senior, I can say this for a fact. I have no regrets about choosing to attend Villanova (even over “higher” ranked schools like Rice or Cornell). It is a special university with not only strong academics, but also a great community atmosphere and a team you can root for after you graduate!

You don’t have to like basketball, but believe me when I say this, you will come to terms and learn to love Villanova Basketball. Go Cats!

I would like to second what MrInformed has posted. The academics, athletics and culture all speak for themselves but the aspect of this post that I would like to highlight is the alumni network. I attended VSB for the MSF program and I have the ability to compare the alumni body of Villanova with that of my undergraduate alma mater (a well-regarded national university) and the Villanova network is truly something special. I spoke with many Villanova alums while I was going through the recruitment process and found them all willing to go above and beyond to help however they could. I owe much of my success at my current firm to the Villanova connection.

The experience instilled a loyalty that I do not believe most would feel for where they attended graduate school. I do not feel obligated to pay it forward; I am positively motivated to pay it forward. Choosing a college may seem like the end of what was likely an arduous process for most high school students but it’s a very important starting point for a career. Villanova will prepare you with the skills and introduce you to a supportive network that will help you for the rest of your life.

GO CATS!

After visiting for Accepted Students Day, I can definitely see why you guys love your school. The most shocking thing to me was how friendly everybody was. I even had a basketball player come up to me and talk to me for a bit. For any of the students who were there, thank you for making that such an enjoyable experience.

@MrInformed read many of your posts. Wondering if you are currently a senior at Villanova or a first year of med student at Drexel Med?
