Wifi?

I'm here for summer with FSAP and the wifi is terrible. Is it like that during the year? Should I buy an ethernet cable. What's going on?

Get an Ethernet cable. The Wifi isn’t that good. I seriously hope it’s one of the things they try to improve.

There wasn’t even wifi in the dorms four years ago and you had to pay for internet access. Be happy with what’s there.

When I was at ArtSci weekend staying in Park I used my iPod Touch to get internet in the evening and it was very strong. What dorm are you in?

IIRC I also used it on the main campus and I think it was just as strong.

I second Ravnzcroft. The wifi is unfortunate, but they may be fixing it before next year (or maybe that’s just wishful thinking?) Regardless, bring a ethernet cable for sure.

For whatever reason, I cannot connect to WUFI-S. My computer rejects it 10 min after I leave STS every time…

So I just use WUFI, and it works more than fast enough. Supposedly the SU senators are doing something about the issues.

Really? I hope they do. I can’t use ethernet for whatever reason, and WUFI is pretty damn slow.

What do you mean you can’t use Ethernet?

matcat, whats Park like? I’ll be living there starting this fall.

I have no problem with WUFI-S in the dorms 90% of the time, but there’s times when I just can’t connect. Eventually I just plug in and leave it like that the rest of the year.

I’ve never had a problem connecting to wufi-s on my iphone.
I’ve had major problems connecting with my 360…only guestwifi-wufi worked and only part of the time.

RaVN: dunno, my computer never recognizes when the ethernet is plugged in. it’s a messed up computer when it comes to network connections

You might want to get that checked out at STS right when you arrive in the fall. It could be a problem for you since the wifi is slow.

Yeah, I’ve been lazy though.

Hmm for an artsci weekend I just used the WUSTL guest wifi? It wasn’t too bad and I was able to skype my friend in Taiwan XD

The guest wufi is slow and that will be a problem when more students are on campus.
