Will a 3 on French hurt me?

I got a 5 on Bio, Calc BC, and APUSH, but a 3 on French.

I hate blaming stuff on teachers, but talk to anyone from my school about my french teacher and you will get the same response: "oh... her". Ah well, usually most of her students get 2's and 1s. I'm applying this fall and I guess the right thing to do is show all my scores. I'm applying to engineering schools so I'm hoping they'll overlook that.

I got a 3 in AP French as a junior with a bunch of other 5s, and I got into the Wharton / engineering dual degree program at Penn, early decision. Wharton places a huge emphasis on foreign language proficiency, but regardless, the 3 on French didn’t affect me. Because you have 5s in other exams, I’m sure that you’ll be fine. Report the 3 anyway; the exam is extremely challenging, and colleges know that.

AP’s only benefit you. If you didn’t get a 4/5 it’s not like the SAT, where if you have a bad score, you’re already facing rejection. AP’s aren’t like that. No worries

Why do people cry over 3’s on hard exams?! A 3 is passing you know… Colleges still give credit for 3’s… Unless of course you aspire for like those so-called IV-League schools. :P

I’m not crying over it. I’m happy for this 3 considering the circumstances. I just wanted to know its effect on me later on.

No! you passed, and you will most likely get college credit. A 3 wont hurt anybody.

also, I’m applying to a couple Ivies and some high engineering schools. Someone above said that’d make a difference.

Far more schools than ivies will not take 3’s.
