So Yale hopes to see supplementary essays which are less than 500 words..but seems I cant reduce my essay length anymore..
so..will 510 words be fine? i'm worried about it..
Can anyone give me a clear responese? Many thanks!

510 is fine. It's the people who feel that they're "special cases" because their essay can only be complete at 700 that seem to reach into the "annoying" range.

thanx T26E4..
but my essay now has 523 words.. kill me

I'm almost certain Yale's website makes a point to tell you they won't stop reading at the 500th word, but do ask you to respect the limit they set.

523 won't hurt you.. they won't go "this kid did 523 words.. REJECTION!".. they just prefer to save some time, so they want the essays to be a short as possible (it is still good to stay under 500 words if you can.. just don't be one of those 700+ word essay kids.. that won't go well with the yale adcoms)
