So I havent been doing too well in my ochem II class this semester and I might end up with a C in the class. I could try to get a B but I would need to do really well on the next exam and the final. Will medical schools look at this grade negatively and will it hurt my chances of getting into medical school??
I have mostly A’s (only two B’s) in all my other courses and I got an A in ochem I. I have a 3.8 GPA right now with substantial research experience and extracurriculars. I’m also in the process of doing an honors thesis and will be graduating in three years with honors.
I really hope this one grade won’t blow my chances!
Hurt? Of course it will hurt. It lowers your GPA. Will a single C prevent you from getting in? No. Of course not.
And I write this as an MSTP student who got a C in orgo 1 and a B in orgo 2
S finished first year with GPAs below 3.2 and is now a resident. So I’d say one C by itself will have less than a zero effect on your chances of getting into a med school
I would try my best to get a B.
Did you skip intro (chem) classes if you are graduating a year early
I didn’t skip any intro classes. I took gen chem I &II and got As in both of them.
I feel like getting a C in ochem II would show a downward trend and that may look bad
One grade does not equal a trend.

Then it is worth it to try harder to get a B.
It doesn’t matter that people here got C’s and got into med school. The competition is getting harder each year.
