Football Varsity since I was a sophomore, and it is one of the top HS football teams in the nation, also one of the reasons I slacked off Freshmen and sophomore year was because I tore 2 ligaments (ACL,Meniscus) and had therapy and schoolwork.

I know my first two years were not really good, but hopefully the last two will make up for them. I would also be interested in playing football for them, I have been contacted by div.2 colleges, but I really want to go here what are my chances? Also will failing Chem sophomore year ruin my chances?

You certainly have an incredible upward trend.
I don’t know if that F will completely preclude an acceptance at WashU, but it will definitely hurt. A lot.
But your upward trend, and unbelievably strong performance junior year, if that continues through senior year, might just help prove to WashU that you are indeed a serious student and are worthy of an admission.
Good luck!

^Agreed. Also, given that it was your sophomore year and you show by your grade in AP Chem senior year that you’ve learned from the experience and understand the material, I’m pretty sure they’ll understand and it won’t affect your chances.

Think you still have a good chance. Your upward trend is amazing and I think they are much more apt to look past this in your first 2 yrs. then later in HS.

Thanks so much guys. WUSTL has been my dream school. Do you think if I apply ED I will get accepted, I am also really good at football (not trying to come off as arrogant) so should I send in my highlight tapes and hope they recruit me?

They’re notorious about yield protection, so applying ED will be most beneficial.

The soph failing grade aside, it is very odd that you have all 100s. I think it is reasonable to anticipate that admission officers are going to wonder why and scrutinize your schools’s curriculum, course rigor (notwithstanding AP designations), grading system and your rank/peer performance. Your guidance counselor is the key to educating colleges about your HS and your performance in context, including the failing soph chem grade and your senior retake. I encourage you to have a chat with your GC to be sure he/she seems up to the task, especially because WUSTL is such a competitive admit.

I encourage you to post your football question here:

Good luck!

TXArtemis trust me the high school I go to is one of the best in Texas, number 40 something, and in the NATION around 175. I assure you that the work was anything but easy. It was my sheer determination and will to get into a good college preferably WUSTL, so I worked by butt off in school, started on varsity football and won state, and raised over 10,000 dollars ALONE for underprivileged kids, and much more. I hate to come off as cocky but I am really proud of my huge turnaround and to say the least if I dont get into WUSTL I wont feel bad at all knowing that I put forth all of the effort I could the last few years.

Hmmm. Well, in addition to the odd string of earned and predicted 100s (for many reasons, it is unrealistic for a student to consistently score 100s in all classes, and what is up with your prediction that you will make all 100s senior year 1st semester? and what happened to senior year 2nd semester?), there are other things about your HS career that don’t add up. Additionally, you’ve received some surprisingly poor counseling from your top public HS.

Assuming you go to a Texas public,

Most Texas high schools are still in session and haven’t completed/issued final grades for what would be your junior year second semester.

Your social studies sequence is wrong per College Board AP testing and state graduation requirements, i.e., World Geography is not an AP course, and in Texas, you would take World Geo once in freshman year, you would take US History in junior year.

Taking stat with precal is atypical–if you did so because it was an appealing elective for you, you have excess elective credits. If you did it to fulfill your fourth math (in the unlikely event your AP Comp Sci is not in the math dept.), it was inadvisable because competitive colleges prefer to see students in math in senior year.

To graduate on either the distinguished (advised for WUSTL) or recommended plan, you will have an atypically full senior year schedule to fulfill state requirements in addition to your chem retake and advised math.

Your HS will not include four years of football grades in your GPA.

What is your class rank going into junior finals and what do you think it will be after? That is the stat every Texas student knows, and it is valued by colleges to show your performance in the context of your school/peers.

If you go to a Texas private,

All of the above apply except school may already be out, so you’ll have your junior year grades and rank, if your school ranks; and your graduation/course requirements may differ to some degree, thus your senior year may not be as full as if you were in a public HS.

Re: your football career at either state or private,

If you were a starter on the state championship football team, with that academic record, already receiving DII interest, you would know exactly what you need to do if you haven’t become a blip on WUSTL’s radar.

Also, DII carries some scholarship potential that DIII doesn’t, so it doesn’t make sense to put all your emphasis on WUSTL, ignoring other, possibly more fiscally advantageous opportunities.

Re: APs, with all those AP classes, you’d usually report your test scores.

Re: ACT, it is unusual for Texas students to take the ACT.

I see you posted a nearly identical thread and are facing the same sort of questions there. There are two possibilities here: (1) everything you’ve said is true–understand that colleges will have the same questions and more; or (2) everything you’ve said is untrue–you are just a ■■■■■.
