So I recorded the wrong unit for my transferable gym course in spring '13. The starting date at my college is also wrong and the 0.5-unit non transferable counseling course I took when I was still in high school was not listed on the app because i thought that I didnt need to. Therefore, I contacted UC admission hotline and they told me to correct the mistakes in the additional comment section and I did. But since I have so many mistakes like that, will my chances of getting into UCs be affected?

If they’re non-transferable and you mention them as your were told to then it shouldn’t impact you.

If some are transferable and you are listing them there and there is more than one that would impact you.

Mistakes happen,especially with ticky tack small courses that aren’t even transferable, and the UC’s know that, don’t sweat it unless some actually are UC transferable and there are multiple.

I think you’ll be fine.

You explained the mistakes in the additional comments section and the admissions officers looking over your application will see that. That’s all that matters. Good luck getting into your dream school!

yeah don’t worry about it, as long as you mentioned them somewhere or notified them.

I am going over my UC app update again…I have a question!
In the section:
Other Academic History - Transferable Courses
I have:
College/University English Composition

Based on the courses you reported in Academic History, you have fulfilled the course requirement for this subject with a grade of C or better.

ENGL 2 - Critical Analysis and Intermediate Composition
ENGL 1 - Reading and Composition I

But in the next page, it asks:

Prior to transfer, will you have satisfied the Entry-Level Writing Requirement?
Yes No Not Applicable

I answered Not Applicable, based on what a counselor in SMC told me in a UC app session! Is that true!?!
I have taken two English courses, then why should I choose Not Applicable

@bolandgoo

I said “yes” to the entry-level writing requirement question. You’re supposed to do that since transferable English classes are used to satisfy that requirement. Change it if you can. If you can’t, notify the UC application office as soon as possible and ask them to change it for you.

@Cayton
I can change it, but honestly one of the counselors at SMC said that in UC app workshop!! I was checking out my app while she was lecturing (I don’t think I’m confusing something here, since I was kinda surprised at the time too!)
■■■■ good thing I’m going over the app another time today!

I don’t know…SMC counselors sometimes don’t know what they’re talking about, unless they’re from the Scholars program.

<a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors;

The University of California website says that this requirement can be satisfied by completing the appropriate English classes. They must be worth at least 3 semester units. You’ve done both English classes necessary for IGETC at SMC so there’s no way that counselor could be right. You should change your response to that question about the writing requirement.

There are two things people consistently claim are the downsides to going to SMC: the lack of parking because of a huge student body and the crappy counselors.

Just saying. ;)

hahaha
I changed it to “Yes”. let’s see what happens…

^_^ You’ll be fine. Trust me.

Just because a counselor says something doesn’t mean it’s true. You’ll hear plenty of stories of CC counselors being completely wrong and a student being screwed over as a result of it. It would make no sense to put “not applicable” towards that question seeing as how it is an absolute hardline requirement for admission. Don’t take everything at face value and verify your sources of info; it’s important concept that is stressed in the first college-level English class you take.
