I am applying to top tier colleges (Ivies, Georgetown, JHU, etc) and wrote about my Italian heritage quite eloquently - I think - as my Common App essay.

However, I took the Italian SAT Subject Test and scored only a 630. Now, I could justify this by saying that I am a better Italian speaker and writer than I am an Italian reader (which is solely what this exam tested) but the fact remains that this score is not impressive enough to stand out.

I have gotten in the 700's on all my other subject tests and SAT subsections. Since I must send in all my scores for most of these schools (and this 630 is lumped in a test date at which I improved another score from 690 to 710), will this score ruin my chances for admission?

I appreciate your thoughts.
