Will a really good recomendation letter hurt my chances?

Can anyone answer my question please??? I am really desperate, because I only have my calculus teacher to ask for a recommendation letter if it is certain that a choir teacher's recommendation wouldn't count for an "academic rec letter"...... :'(

Gah... almost the same thing with the thread in the SAT Prep forum: "Can a 2400 hurt my chances?"

ak901011: it's too bad that your legitimate post is lost in this crazy one. The top schools ask for recommendations from rigorous academic classes. An arts/music teacher or coach should only be used as a third or supplemental recommendation. Remember, you're applying to academic institutions first and foremost. Good luck to you.

If you have any further questions, I suggest you not attach them to this ludicrous thread. People won't notice them or reply.

Thanks T26E4 for answering my question :) I see your point clearly. I guess it won't hurt to have a supplemental recommendation. Thanks again !
