Will applying late hurt me?

Alright, let's face it--the vast majority of us (by us, obviously, I mean 2016 applicants) are worn the eff out. I applied to 17(!) schools, but I'm still very, very interested in UM... and that gorgeous Feb. 1st deadline. Would applying a few weeks from now (still so weird!) hurt me? I don't want to be taken any less seriously because my interest came a little later, but I wanted to avoid rushing my UM supp. essays as much as humanly possible.

I think you should go ahead and apply late.

They won’t care, since you ARE submitting your app by Feb 1st…and if UMAnnArbor is that important to you, I say work on those supplements and stand out from the crowd.

Don’t worry.

Oh, and honestly, I am in the same situation. I applied to 19 schools…I’m a mental maniac

Good luck on becoming a UM Wolverine ;)

Michigan makes it a lot harder for late applicant. However, this year, they appear to have changed their approach. The good news is, Michigan will probably not penalize late applicants, the bad news is, Michigan will respond to all applicants around April 1-10 and they will probably be a lot more selective with weaker applicants.

Is UMich doing rolling admissions this year or regular decision? On the Common App, it says “Rolling Admissions” but I’ve heard conflicting reports.
