Will applying scholarship harm my chance?

Hi, I am an international student. Can anyone tell me that whether applying scholarship (not financial aid) harm of chance of admission?

why would it?

@datboyjj, like by putting me into a much more competitive pool from the beginning? I’m just guessing.

Nah I doubt it would. It just suggests that u dont need need-based financial aid.

Hey, I have two university-wide merit based scholarships and it doesn’t hurt you. Because scholarships are secondary, you aren’t singled out at the beginning of the application process and read assessed in relation to that pool. There are people at WashU who applied for merit based scholarships, didn’t get them but still got in regardless. That being said, once you are in the scholarship applicant pool be prepared for stiff competition. The acceptance rate for those are ridiculously low (i.e. 6.5%)
