Our guidance told me that some schools will waiver the out of state tuition rates. (AL & GA schools for FL residents)
Any one experience this?
I.e Auburn in Particular
The only waiver I’m aware of is the Southern Regional Education Board Academic Common Market which allows out of state students to receive in state tuition if any of their state schools don’t offer the major they are seeking (i.e. can’t get an architecture degree in South Carolina so you go to Auburn - and that is just a made up example)…there are a lot of stipulations with the program. You can google it and find the details.
They may not waive it, but may put together a package that competes with instate Florida rates. A Florida resident friend told me that both her daughters went to Miss State for less than they could have gone to a FL school with Bright Futures. I’m not sure what merit awards they got, but she said that most of the southern schools (not GA) tended to have about the same costs in the end. It is definitely worth looking into.
