I emailed Cal Poly Admissions asking the latest they will take ACT scores and they informed me January 15. If I take the ACT with writing, the scores for multiple choice will be posted online December 30th and the ACT with writing will be available February 7th.

Are the scores sent out to Cal Poly before or after they are online?

Will Cal Poly receive the multiple choice first then the writing or they only take both at the same time?

If they wait to take both at the same time I will probably not make the deadline. Should I take the ACT without writing instead to get the scores faster?

Do the scores of the ACT without writing get sent before the ACT with writing?

If you can answer any one of these questions please reply.

ACT does not send any test scores until the writing score is avaialble if you take writing. It matters not whether the college requires the writing (Cal Poly does not). Not sure where you are getting that Feb 7 date from. Typically what occurs with ACT is that some actually get their writing score the same day the section scores are released and the rest get them over the next 5 to 7 days. If you have ordered scores sent to Cal Poly by naming it as one of your free sends, it should be delivered before mid-Jan.

That Feb 7 date is the outside date it would be sent and that will only occur if something delays your scores, like a sytem failure or an investigation to assure there were no improprieties at the test site. Once your writing score is released, likely within a week or less after Dec 30, your scores will be sent quickly. Sending simply consists of ACT putting the score into an on-line account the CSU’s have with it. Sending and receipt thus occur at the same time. Thus, as long as there is no system or other delay to your scores, they should be delivered by mid-Jan.
