As a general comment:

You know your chances already. Why bother? Since you got into Caltech EA I sincerely do not think there’s a doubt anymore that you’re qualified. No one is going to say “MATCH for MIT!!” even though I think it may be. No one is going to comment anything useful. I’m just going to throw out here that:

YES, you’re qualified. Your ECs are impressive. NO, no one can guarantee anything. YOU know that. WE know that.

Now, if I’m an admissions officer, I would probably think like this:

Academics

Retaking your SAT is a pretty dumb idea. 2290 is FINE. The reason why differing CR scores cause an impact on decision rates, I suppose, is due to two reasons: SAT is a measure of hard work, in certain ways, and natural talent. Thus, it kinds of correlates. I know I’m going to get bashed by this comment but I kind of believe this.

Well, taking Coursera courses…seriously, I don’t think it matters. I’ve done 8 Coursera courses. I do not think they will make an impact whatsoever. They are simply not THAT difficult. OCW may be a much better choice, but of course, you get no recognition for OCW…

Math contest, whatever, olympiad…whatever, orchestra whatever…a lot of people have them. NOW. Composition award. That’s interesting. PLEASE focus on this.

Your essays are going to make or break your application (although personally I think you’re very qualified for most of the universities). You’ve shown an excellent academic side of yourself. NOW it’s time to show that you are CARING, possess LEADERSHIP etc. Language has the subtle power for an experienced admissions officer to decipher your personality. Use that to your advantage. I would suggest you not repeating Math/Science again in your essays…up to you. You already demonstrated intellect and perseverance through your awards etc. If you’re going to repeat the same thing, it’s not smart. HOWEVER, if you’re going to talk about more advanced stuff like how music composition shows a duality in your personality…SURE. Go on.

Then and again, I think it’s pointless trying to convey anything here meaningful. I don’t even know what you wrote for your essays so I can’t judge anything at all. What’s even worse is that I’m not the admissions officer. All I can say is truly generic stuff. And I’m sure you already sorta know your levels. If you got into Caltech EA, surely you’re a high match at all these schools already provided you write your essays sharply and in depth.

At this kind of level, a fit is more important than anything else. You can’t possibly fit in all these schools, and in each essay you have to target ever so differently…it’s going to place an immense stress on you. I personally am only going to apply to two universities and I have tons of time to thoroughly research about each school and think long and hard about what to write in the essays. I’m afraid applying to 8 or so schools is not going to afford you the luxury to spend 40 hours each researching and 40 hours more to write essays for each university. Yet spending this amount of time is truly very helpful…
