I basically just want to confirm this. The GPA which the colleges I am applying to will be my cumulative GPA of everything I have taken up to Fall 2012. The courses I take Spring 2013 prior to transferring will just be courses and will the GPA I receive in the Spring will not correlate to the GPA which the college sees when making the decision of admission, correct? I am asking this because I want to know if it will do any good to take more units in the Spring to try to raise my GPA. I just need a .03 increase to have a 3.8! Ugh...

My son is in the exact same boat. Has been on an upward trajectory since Freshman year but had a rocky start with the same evil math teacher for honors geo and honors algII. He couldn’t get out of B range for math. Our gc said that the schools will receive his old GPA which gets calculated at the end of each year. Luckily, colleges know this and I have heard that they adjust accordingly. He has all A’s for first quarter in all honors and APs. We are hoping for a 3.8 by the end but our school sends weighted GPA anyway which is above a 4.2…Hope this helps!
