Will click submit tomorrow hopefully

My son has been working with his AP English teacher to polish his essay. Once he is done, then I will proof read his apps. I HOPE he is done by tomorrow. Then, I will proofread and he will click submit.

SATs are Saturday and no school Monday so if it is not finished tomorrow, then it will not be until Tuesday. Regardless, I am ready to be done with his stuff for now.

It will be such a good feeling when everything is submitted. I hope all goes well and you will hear that melodic clicking sound tomorrow!

Good for him! Some kids have not even seriously started their apps yet.

(If you are the parent of such a student, fear not. My 2010 hs grad spent most o f his extra time senior September on ECs and getting his IB extended essay completed. It drove me nuts. He still managed to have almost everything handed in for his 10 apps to the GC before Thanksgiving.)

I hope you did or will take the time to read the essay forum on CC.

While there are no reasons why an AP teacher should not be a college application expert, the reality is that it is not obvious that they understand the differences between a solid school essay and a great application essay. Both essay use words, but that is probably the only valid comparison.

I hope you are one the lucky ones who can rely on what is available at your HS.

My goodness, my son didn’t submit his last app until the absolute deadline, but he did have acceptances in hand by then, so I stopped nagging. My son’s GC had approved his essay and also sent it to someone in admissions at Middlebury (he didn’t apply there) who said it was good and then I ran it by a friend who read apps for UVM (son didn’t apply there either). They all said he could go with it, no suggestions, no changes. I picked up a one letter typo.

Now I willbe reading the essay forum before submitting! I have not read it yet so thanks for the heads up.

I agree, it’s such a good feeling to finish them, but in the end having to pick a college was even more stressful and agonizing (since it’s a huge decision), so make sure you guys take time/talks to choose the best school fit and financially. Good luck, and wish you the best.
