Will colleges look down upon AP courses they think kids took with private tutors?

At a local tutoring center, I could pay about $1200 to enroll in a year-long class for Calculus BC as a junior, since my school does not allow juniors to take Calc BC. Would the colleges see through this, or would they just assume I self-studied this AP when they notice I was only taking precalc in school? I still feel a little 'guilty' since not everybody can afford a private tutor. I think a 5 would show colleges I can handle the complexity and the course work though. So do you think it's worth it? Would it boost my chances signifcantly to get a 5 on Calc BC as a junior? (otherwise as a senior they'd never really see my score until after the admissions season is over, of course)

i’m not sure a college would ever know unless you told them.

Yeah, they will never know.

But they will love your effort in taking the higher level calc class during junior year. But if you don’t pass it’s quite a waste of a lot of money.

go for it .
