My daughter was offered an academic scholarship from a couple of schools. Can I or should I contact her other schools to see if they will match the offer or offer her something?

They won’t do it automatically. They may very well say that they wish you the best at the other colleges. And not all colleges have the same criteria for merit scholarships, they’re easier to get in some places than others. But once you get the offers from other schools, if they’re lower than you expected and she really wants to go to a particular place that’s not offering as much, it’s perfectly OK to talk to the fin aid office and say, you’re our first choice, but I’m worried it won’t be affordable. She received X from you, she received X from this other school including a merit scholarship. She wants to go here, but the cost is much higher.
