Will final year of scholarship carry over?

I expect the answer is no, but if I have the presidential scholarship (awarded for 4 years of undergraduate study), and I am graduating this semester (the end of my third year), will the scholarship be renewable for my fourth and final year to complete a masters program at cmu?

Obviously I'll talk to the hub once my plans are closer to finalized, but do any of you have experience with this? Thanks!

Don’t technically graduate this year–regardless if all your degree requirements for the BS are earned (unless you want to go to work). Stay one more semester officially as an undergrad while enrolling in grad courses in the Fall, and then graduate in December. Then you only pay for ONE not TWO semesters of graduate courses which you’ll take next spring.
You have to pay for at least one semester at graduate tuition- it states that in the accelerated MS degree programs, etc. -not more than half of the 96 units may be completed while an undergrad (factoring in these don’t fulfill /count towards the BS).

My D finished up her requirements too - that’s the way she’s handled it and also has one of the lucrative scholarships. Her advisor worked out how many courses she could stuff in during her senior year while earning her BS which would count towards the MS, and still meet the MS requirements. We still have to cough up one semester of graduate tuition. Of course you could also apply to the Doctorate program in which case you would most surely have a shot at full funding and tuition. There’s no such funding for MS students (pretty much at any school). MS is always considered a “professional” degree.

If you graduate- the fourth year of the undergraute scholarship is forfeited to someone else.

Thanks for the advice. I did consider that route, and i’ll look into it again, but based on an info session and a talk with my advisor I believe the new masters in c.s. program has different rules.

While I can’t find it anywhere on the page, I was told that at most 2 courses (24 units) could carry over from my undergraduate study to the masters program. My plan for this semester has been to take the last 2 classes i need to finish my degree, and then a couple easy-ish CS electives to overflow some of the graduate level courses I have already taken to count for the masters.

So, my current plan would reduce the program from 1.5 years and 9 classes to 1 year and 7 classes (6 CS and 1 graduate basket weaving). However, it would be great news if there is some university-wide rule that says you can do up to half while still an undergraduate.

I know some programs have absolutely stupid rules, though. I believe it is the MBA program which says regardless of how fast you finish the requirements and graduate, you owe 2 years worth of tuition.

As a side note: Do you know how (undergrad and graduate) GPA is affected by counting courses taken as an undergrad toward a grad program? I have A’s in half of my upper level cs courses and B’s in the other half. Which ones should I choose to carry over?
